Summary:
The latest improvement to the welcome sign consists of underground sprinkling for the grass and flowers.
Body:

The Welcome to Lake George sign at the corner of Routes 9N and 9 at the southern of the Town began as a dream of a significant project by the Lake George Rotary Club.  Through negotiations with the State the Town obtained permission to use the corner for a sign.  Once permission was granted the Rotary Club provided the sign to be placed on the hillside.

The Town Buildings and Grounds Department then provided the labor, skill, and materials for the stone work, back filling, grass seeding, and the flag poles.  The Rotary Club through the efforts primarily of Dennis Galloway provided the lighting and arranged for the shrubery and flowers.

The current improvement has been the installation of water tanks and an underground watering system to insure the life and beauty of the flowers and shrubs.  This is not the last improvement to this corner as plans are being discussed to install a well to provide the water for the watering system.

The project has been a good example of a private organization and Town working together to provide something worthwhile for the community.
